  • Great info on potential futures

I have found the pod to be entertaining while informing about the possibilities that affect different size banks. Many things cannot be predicted, but possible scenarios are thrown around and how to deal with them. Our banking system is vital, so we must look to the past, but also the future and I feel like this show hits a good balance of both.

Banking on AI? How to Navigate the Early Stages ft. Kate Drew
Q: How do you differentiate hype from reality in AI for banking?
Think in terms of a timeline and realistic progression; traditional ML/NLP is established, but generative AI customer-facing use cases will mature more slowly, with responsible deployment and a focus on keeping humans in the loop.
Banking on AI? How to Navigate the Early Stages ft. Kate Drew
Q: What is a practical first step for a small bank?
Start small with a real problem, apply AI to solve it, train employees to validate outputs, and then expand use cases while establishing an AI policy and governance to manage risk and vendor relationships.
Banking on AI? How to Navigate the Early Stages ft. Kate Drew
Q: What surprised you in the data about AI adoption in banking?
The shocking part is not that AI is coming, but how early we are in the journey and how industry-agnostic the technology is; banks must think broadly about where AI can help rather than expecting rapid, dramatic shifts in core banking functions.
Spooky Stories, Real Threats: Talking Cybersecurity with Steve Sanders
Q: What role does AI play in defense versus offense in banking cybersecurity?
AI can significantly strengthen defenses when used responsibly to detect anomalies and automate responses, but adversaries also leverage AI for fraud; banks should adopt AI-enabled security tools while maintaining strong governance and ethical considerations.
Spooky Stories, Real Threats: Talking Cybersecurity with Steve Sanders
Q: How should banks handle third-party risk and cloud connections?
Assess and monitor third-party applications and cloud integrations rigorously, assume some access across the network and implement least-privilege access and continuous monitoring to reduce the attack surface.
