“We read books – and other words, too.” Two cousins read and discuss a wide variety of books from self pub to indie to trad pub. Episodes are divided into a “Spoiler Free” conversation and then a clearly delineated “Spoiler-y” discussion, so listeners can enjoy every episode regardless of whether they’ve read the book or not. Most of the books covered on the podcast are Fantasy, Science Fiction, o... more

Your hosts attempt to discuss Apparently, Sir Cameron Needs to Die by Greer Stothers in a non-spoilery way, before giving up and moving on to the spoiler section. They talk about the fun twists, killing god, and the excellent romance.

Your hosts get a little political with The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin. They compare it to some of her other Earthsea series, enjoy the overall humanitarian message, and point out a few (startlingly few) areas where it didn't age as well.

Your hosts read the Kin Enigma by Darrel Miller, a hard scifi take on werewolves fit for Crichton fans. They discuss the realism of the novel, complex character motivations, and what they would have liked to see more (and less) of in the story.

I tried listening to a couple of eps and found the hosts deeply infatuated with themselves, unlikeable and unpleasant. A case for maybe trimming the podcast output. Not every armchair literary critic needs a platform. Pass.
This podcast has quickly become my go-to comfort listen. It’s like chatting with friends about books, and what could be better than that? I have discovered a lot of books I would have never known about, and had fun listening to episodes about books I know well. I highly recommend this wonderful podcast!
I enjoy listening as I drive to and from work, and disengage from my worries while they analyze books and drinks, words and life. I tuned in when Dan Fitzgerald came on, and have stayed for the company. 😜
Fun and friendly, Fiction Fans is a great podcast for discussions, interviews, and amusing banter.
Sara and Lily are the best—I’m not a big podcast listener, but I make time for this one. It’s always funny, engaging, and, dare I say it, educational. The vibe is relaxed and chill, and you feel like you are part of the conversation (or, at least, wish you were). That’s also a kindness that permeates the whole endeavor, even at is snarkiest, which is a welcome bright spot in the toilet that is 2021.
