  • Well worth your time!

Tom Fox does a great job explaining compliance related things. What he does better than anyone is relate complex compliance topics to the real world. He weaves in stories about his Astros (and my Red Sox) and so much more. Nothing but respect for the FCPA master!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Leading with Invitation: Communications, Leadership, and Compliance with Dr. Dennis Cummins
Q: How does AI fit into this framework without sacrificing human connection?
The guest argues that AI can enhance efficiency and reach, but must be guided by human storytelling and personal experiences to maintain trust and engagement, using AI as a tool rather than a replacement for human conversations.
Leading with Invitation: Communications, Leadership, and Compliance with Dr. Dennis Cummins
Q: What inspired you to write Invitational Selling and how does it apply to compliance leadership?
Dennis explains that the framework evolved from a preference for authentic dialogue over hard selling, with connect, convey, and convert guiding how to build trust and mutual value, a principle that translates into leading compliance initiatives by inviting participation rather than coercing adherence.
Data Defensibility: The Foundation of AI Readiness with George Tziahanas
Q: What is the competitive advantage of strong governance for AI adoption?
Strong governance accelerates AI adoption by making data more accessible and trustworthy for AI tools, with clear lineage and security so applications can find and use data efficiently. It also enables risk-tiering to speed non-sensitive innovation while applying heavier oversight where risk is highest.
Data Defensibility: The Foundation of AI Readiness with George Tziahanas
Q: Could you start by explaining what data defensibility is and why it is emerging as a compliance imperative?
Data defensibility is about ensuring the data used to train and operate AI is accurate, governed, and auditable so decisions can be defended and traced. It requires clear data lineage, visibility across data silos, and governance controls that allow regulators and the company to understand how data influences AI outputs and risk.
Awakening the Advocate: Matt Friedman on Fighting Modern Slavery and Building Corporate Action
Q: How do you see AI fitting into the fight against trafficking and the way data is used to improve supply chain transparency?
AI can help troll through large datasets to identify patterns in supply chains and transactions, enabling banks and companies to delineate search parameters, build a data-driven risk model, and focus investigations where problems are most likely—transforming data into actionable insight.
