I started rereading these books recently 30 years after I read them as a kid and am really enjoying listening along to you two. Kind of eerie to think all these podcasts are pre-Covid. I feel like I am traveling back in time twice while listening to this awesome nostalgic podcast. Well done.
I did not expect to be this into this podcast. I Iiked the Animorphs series as a kid but I haven't reread them in forever. But these two fantastic hosts bring such a lovely conversation to these books, that it's well worth listening even if you're not reading the books along. They're consistently funny, and they're also smart as heck. They take these interesting YA books and bring real analysis and a fun attitude. I'd highly recommend checking them out!
I really enjoy hearing them summarize and discuss the books. They're great at identifying the horror in this children's series that totally went over my head as a kid. The trouble the show gets into is the headcanon. At first it was really enjoyable , and I love hearing them try to fit their OC into the background of the books. As it progressed they've started to focus more on their headcanon than the actual facts of the books. They even have an oft quoted phrase to justify not figuring out the ... more
This is the animorph podcast I didn’t know I needed.
Informative and hilarious
I’ve never read the books, but I’ve always been interested in the series. This podcast definitely beats reading boring wiki summaries. It also really makes you think on the workings of morphing, it’s effects on people’s bodies and minds, and the ethics of morphing into sentient beings. But mostly, it’s just fun to listen to!
Who hasn't thought about being able to turn into an animal before? Even in passing or for a moment? K. A. Applegate thought about that a lot in the mid nineties. She also thought a lot about body horror and eating. Usually simultaneously.
Let Jenna and Brent help you make sense of the above statements while they analyze the hit 90's book series, 'Animorphs.' Where children obtain the power to change into any animal they can touch so they can save the world from aliens bent on control.
After being such a big fan for so many years I cannot believe K. A. pulled such a huge deception right past our eyes! What else is she not telling us?!
