Its materials are drawn from the many courses in literature and mythology that I taught, combined with material from my book The Productions of Time, for which I hope the podcast may provide an accessible introduction, with concrete exampl... more

When I earned my English degree 25 years ago, I studied world literature with Dr. Dolzani. I still remember his voice reading the opening lines of the Iliad, Odyssey, and Divine Comedy. I detect his influence in the way I read the same lines aloud to my own students now. Communing with classic texts is such a spiritual experience! I am thrilled to have found this podcast. I plan to use it to study some of the works I never made time to read.
The author clearly knows his stuff about the classics, but can’t resist inserting his uninformed opinions about current events. He loses credibility when he goes into tangents on politics.
