  • Best AZ show

Most AZ hosts are too negative and whiny, or trying to never talk bad of AZ teams and players - resulting in fake content. Doug lands the perfect balance between providing an enjoyable and uplifting show - and telling it like it is, all the time. He doesn’t over or under react. He doesn’t get away with sheer confidence - instead, his unmatched knowledge of sports validates his opinions. He truly loves his fans, and it shows through his work ethic and honesty to us. Thanks for all you do Doug.

  • Simply the best in Arizona Sports pods

Since finding Doug Franz Unplugged, I rarely venture looking for other Arizona sports podcasts. His coverage is very thorough and consistent. His baseball knowledge is vast and does a great job of being critical but not reactionary. The Diamondbacks get so much attention during the long season but it's very digestible from this podcast. Phoenix Suns, Arizona Cardinals, Sun Devils, Wildcats and the rest are covered here.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

CARDINALS: Crushed It
Q: The question that we don't know the answer to is if Jeremiah Love and David Bailey were both on the board, what were you gonna do?
The host discusses preferring the best player available and later considers how the pick could impact the broader offense and future draft strategies.
SUNS: Ott & Book Not Good
Q: Have you ever slept with anyone in order to get the scoop on a story?
Howard Balzer responds that he would have to say unequivocally no.
CARDINALS: I Admit, They Should Do It
Q: Who is the best receiver in the draft and who would you pick first if you had the first overall pick?
The best receiver by film is Jordan Tyson, but Carnell Tate is a close alternative due to toughness and off-field character; if I were picking, I'd lean toward Tyson for raw talent, though Tate has the better durability profile.
Why The Suns Win Tonight
Q: When did it feel like this Suns team could make a postseason run with all the pieces healthy?
The coach emphasized that December's tougher schedule helped establish an identity, and with all hands on deck, the Suns felt they could compete at a high level and push toward the postseason.
CARDINALS: Draft Jeremiyah and His Bull Frog
Q: Have you ever slept with anyone in order to get a scoop in a story?
Bobby Mac sidestepped the question, indicating that he wouldn't disclose such information and emphasizing journalistic ethics and boundaries.
