Some of the best conversations I've ever had have taken place while running with others. Over the course of several miles, the conversations are allowed to flow freely and cover a variety of topics. And that's what I try to do with my podcast.

One of Diz’s best interviews. Maybe taking time off from the weekly long podcasts will work out better for you. This was an excellent interview

  • Applicable even to non runners

I don’t actually run any longer. I’ve put all my eggs in the competitive swimming basket and yet I still get a lot of value from Diz and the podcast. The life advice, the general training advice, and the positivity are all applicable even though I’ve shifted my sports focus. So I wholeheartedly recommend the podcast to anyone on a fitness and training journey.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

1358 Listener Q&A: July 2026
Q: Question from Rick Lind: Can you bulletproof a body part prone to injury, or is that possible?
No, you can't bulletproof a body part entirely, but you can reduce risk by strengthening weak links, improving mobility, and adjusting training load; set realistic goals and consider resetting time targets to avoid pushing into injury-prone territory, balancing hard work with smart recovery.
1358 Listener Q&A: July 2026
Q: Question from Tom Rankin: What is more impressive, a new world record in the mile or a sub-two-hour marathon?
Both are extraordinary, but the sub-two-hour marathon edges it for me because the barrier has been so elusive and the combination of endurance, speed, and race conditions makes it uniquely monumental; the mile record is incredibly fast, but the marathon barrier feels more groundbreaking due to the distance and consistency required.
1358 Listener Q&A: July 2026
Q: Question from Tom Rankin: With a new BQ target in a new age group (3:50 aiming for 3:45 in Erie), what is the best advice for this attempt?
Stay healthy and consistent, and avoid chasing a single killer workout. Build gradually by stacking easy runs, workouts, and long runs. Maintain smart training through the summer, listen to your body, and avoid pushing when you're not feeling right; race day should be about leveraging accumulated training and staying healthy.
1353 Listener Q&A: June 2026
Q: Michaela asks how to let go of should and embrace the joy of running.
The host describes a nuanced approach: sometimes you push through, other times you take a break, experiment with scenery or running partners, and focus on enjoyment and long-term consistency rather than rigid adherence to a goal.
1353 Listener Q&A: June 2026
Q: Alex asks whether a marathon sticker should be on multiple cars if someone has run only one marathon.
The host argues that it's acceptable to display a single marathon finish as a personal achievement, noting you're not claiming to have run twice if you're in different cars, and recommends earning multiple stickers only after completing additional marathons.
