  • Useful and Personable

I love this podcast and the energy from Quint, Allie, and Logan. Not only do they discuss relevant and useful financial information, their stories help you relate to them as a real person. Quint’s relationship with Allie reminds me of mine and one of my employees. The beginning episodes helped me build financial literacy. The later episodes dive into specific topics depending on the questions they receive. Every year they also review the basics again, which I love. Because of the podcast I have ... more

  • Meh

The chatter is annoying. It almost feels like bro culture and I’m not here for it. I don’t care about marathons or that you gave up caffeine. Content is good, but leaving cause the chatter is annoying as humanely possible.

  • Get to the point

I found this podcast, not as informative as it could have been. It seemed like the hosts were more interested in having a conversation and carrying on versus discussing the topic at hand. The first settlements of podcast I didn’t get on topic. I had to turn off halfway through. If you want to hear banter and not learn, this is likely podcast for you.

  • Where is Daniel?

Is Daniel still on the podcast? I held out hope because he was still in the intro but now they have changed that to Ally. 🙁

  • 90% irrelevant stuff

Never get to the meat of it. Just waste time talking on random stuff most of the episode

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Traditional or Roth
Q: I'm wondering if I make a pretty good salary now, but I expect to have a higher net worth, but a lower salary later. Is it more beneficial for me to invest in a traditional 401k now instead of a Roth?
It's important to consider your tax bracket. If you're expecting a lower tax bracket in the future, a traditional IRA may be beneficial now. However, if you're currently in a lower tax bracket, contributing to a Roth could save you money in the long run.
Having a Child Financial Checklist
Q: What advice do you have for young couples wanting to start a family?
Ensure you have a solid financial foundation, manage insurance, and adjust your budget appropriately for the changes that come with having a baby.
How to Invest Large Chunks of Money?
Q: What methodology would you recommend for investing and saving, let's assume, $1 million for my retiring parents?
The hosts suggest starting with defining financial goals, determining the necessary returns based on those goals, and then gradually transitioning into market investments.
Capital Gains Harvesting
Q: What cost basis method should I choose for capital gains harvesting in my child's brokerage account?
You should select the method that allows you to sell enough to utilize the $2,700 benefit without triggering taxes, often FIFO is suggested, but specific identification offers flexibility for precise strategies.
Self-Pay Health Insurance
Q: What should Caroline do about her self-pay health insurance situation?
Allie discussed the importance of looking into the marketplace for health insurance options and considering factors such as income, network coverage, and the difference between high deductible and traditional plans.
