  • Valuable content but speakers talking at lightning speed

I really wanted to listen to the content as I’m really interested in these topics but the speakers in the audio were speaking SO fast. I am not sure if these episodes are sped up but the speed they were talking at was making me anxious! I had to turn it off unfortunately, which is a shame.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Storytelling for Entrepreneurs: Tom Kelley (Replay)
Q: What makes a pitch deck effective and how should it be structured?
Keep it lean, lead with the team and the market opportunity, ensure the financial viability and technical feasibility are clear, and provide an easy, repeatable sound bite for colleagues who hear about the pitch later.
Storytelling for Entrepreneurs: Tom Kelley (Replay)
Q: How should founders frame their origin story to feel authentic and compelling?
Make it authentic and endearing; avoid forcing a famous garage-origin if it doesn't fit, and lean into a genuine moment that connects with the audience's experiences.
Storytelling for Entrepreneurs: Tom Kelley (Replay)
Q: What are your top tips for crafting an elevator pitch for different audiences?
Prepare separate versions for investors and customers, keep it verbal, and use a recognizable shortcut to convey the concept quickly, such as Stitch Fix meets Rent the Runway for Air Closet, so the listener instantly grasps the idea.
The Curious Leader's Edge in Uncertainty: Scott Shigeoka
Q: What is predatory curiosity and how should leaders approach it in practice?
Predatory curiosity is a near-enemy to true curiosity, where questions are used to trap or 'gotcha' someone; the practical takeaway is to build trust first, earn curiosity through relationship-building, and approach questions with openness rather than a hidden agenda.
How Great Teams Leverage Tension as a Source of Innovation: Daniel Coyle (Replay)
Q: So what is your first thought on how to start, or what are the moments that matter when creating a team?
The initial steps focus on recognizing that every moment matters in team formation, identifying critical windows (early interactions, first disagreements, and first adaptations) to influence culture, and understanding that culture is built through observable behaviors rather than innate DNA.
