The Counter Esperanto Podcast: Tangents about Twin Peaks is the work of Karl Eckler and Jubel Brosseau, and represents their first foray into podcasting about their Weird interests. This is not a recap podcast (there are plenty of those), spoilers abound as Jubel and Karl discuss the Twin Peaks mythos as a whole, generally working backwards from Mark Frost’s new book The Secret History of Twin Pea... more

Love the deep analysis from the hosts and guests. Each and every episode is terrific! Everyone goes above and beyond to bring a unique viewpoint to every discussion. The Peaks content is a serious must for any fan.
Fantastic podcast & much appreciated by this twin peaks fan. I like how both of your personalities come through in the cast; you both seem likeable but Karl especially seems like such a likeable dude. Do you still accept snail mail?? I love to write letters
Great podcast (thanks to the Diane Podcast (also awesome) for introducing me to it). I initially approached it as a Twin Peaks episode-by-episode podcast, but it's not that, it has a core of general weirdness subjects with a crunchy shell of Twin Peaks (there is a fair amount of Twin Peaks content). Listening to it reminded me of a magazine in the UK from the 1980's that I loved called "The Unexplained", especially after listening to the UFO episode.
@Michael L Worrall summed it up very well ... more
Just recently discovered this podcast and binged through it rather quickly, loving every second of it! The hosts are incredibly well researched and come across as both informative yet entertaining. Keep up the good work, it’s fantastic!! (Also, any chance of the show being added to Spotify?)
This is a wonderful podcast. Thank you so much.
A unique perspective brought to unique phenomenon. Thoroughly enjoying the experience 3/4 through catchup.
So much though and research goes into this podcast. The hosts are enjoyable and passionate. I often feel smarter after listening :). I have listened to their list on Dale Cooper a few times now and am determined to keep it on my phone. They've got more than one episode I've listened to more than once. They present lots of stuff to think about. I love how they relate twin peaks to all kinda of other literature and myths. 10 out of 10 highly recommend.
Great podcast that covers more than just the fantastic show Twin Peaks but all sorts of weird, interesting and curious facts about fiction, existence and the meaning of life... Happy to have found someone, who seems to be as much into the character of Rust Cole as myself 😉 highly recommendable! Thanks for all the great input, guys, greetings from Denmark
I just discovered Counter Esperanto a few months ago and I’m already starting the re-listen. It’s an articulate, interesting take on Twin Peaks themes along with the broader concepts of “weird fiction” in general. There’s also a brilliant use of instrumentals in the background that lends to the feeling of foreboding during story readings. The bottom line is this is a masterpiece of a show and I look forward to more content in the future.
Actually structured, actual discussion, unbeholden to restraints that prevent delving into 'marginal' content, influences, and themes of The Return and its Creators. Fan-servility nonexistent here. Particularly insightful with respect to Mark Frost and his background, whom is overshadowed by Lynch in a lot of Twin Peaks conversations. Essential Leaks pod (Drink Full and Descend also recommended/similarly good.)
The best review series of this complex and sometimes frrustrating series. A mixture of review and open ended discussion taking in varied and diverse reference points.
A lot of reference to HP Lovecraft who is someone I am not so familiar with but with their depth of knowledge and engaging enthusiasm for the weird I just find this podcast to be a great way to stimulate my own strange thoughts thanks guys...
So glad I found this Twin Peaks discussion.
Only complaint - too infrequent. I could listen to this podcast everyday.
These guys deliver what the title says. Lore, literature and Lovecraft that all tangents Twin Peaks. We get a lot of analyses where different aspects of weird fiction authors are compared to Lynch and his work, and I find it really refreshing, educating and rewarding to get the fellows views on these things.
Twin Peaks is in the core, but we get so much good stuff from the history and literature around it that we don't get from any other podcast to my knowledge.
Highly recommended!
Within the dozens of Twin Peaks podcasts that have popped up, this is a must-listen. Rather than focus on recapping old and new episodes, Karl and Jubel go off on tangents related to the literary, historical, and cultural influences on Twin Peaks. They even throw in an occassional Weird Fiction reading for good measure. Their audio production quality is top-notch. The only downside is that it doesn't come out often enough. Please encourage them to produce more great work and subscribe to this po... more

This engaging audio experience offers insightful discourse that merges the iconic series with themes of weird fiction, mythology, and literary analysis. The hosts explore various topics, from philosophical and psychological perspectives influenced by the Twin Peaks universe to broader explorations of strange narratives from notable authors like Robert Aickman and H.P. Lovecraft. Unique in its approach, the content strays from traditional episodic recaps, instead favoring a deeper exploration of character and narrative threads that connect the series to a wider cultural tapestry. The intense thematic discussions often intertwine literary criticism with a rich tapestry of personal insights and creative soundscapes, offering listeners a though... more
