  • Just more navel gazing by straight people at Fuller

Hey Fuller, it’s time to accept that LGBT people exist. ONE HUNDRED episodes, and not one mentions Queer issues. Then again, Fuller doesn’t even allow Queer people to attend the school. These are just more podcasts that keep Fuller students and listeners ignorant of the real world.

  • Great!

I love this show. So insightful in terms of theology, Christian thought, culture, everything! My only complaint is the theme music. It hurts my ears and I skip through it or literally rip my headphones out every time it comes on! Please consider a change!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Contemplative Life, with Parker Palmer
Q: What role does storytelling play in bridging divides in religion and politics?
Telling stories about our own lives builds relational trust and creates a container that allows rigorous consideration of ideas, reducing conflict and enabling honest, transformative dialogue.
Contemplative Life, with Parker Palmer
Q: How do you view the relationship between earthen vessels (church structures) and the treasure (spiritual truth) they carry?
Vessels are essential for carrying the treasure, but history shows that organizations often confuse the vessel with the treasure, risking the loss of the deeper spiritual work; adaptation is needed to preserve the treasure while reforming the vessels.
Contemplative Life, with Parker Palmer
Q: Tell us about the central meaning of contemplation in your work.
Contemplation, for me, is defined by its function: penetrating illusion and touching reality, expressed in many forms beyond just traditional practices, and always connected to how one lives and teaches.
Discovering the Young MLK, with Lerone Martin
Q: How did King's early family life influence his later mission and message?
His parents modeled service and a devotional life, instilling a sense of dignity and responsibility; his mother stressed that he was a child of God and that racism is man-made, which became a lifelong anchor for his ministry.
Discovering the Young MLK, with Lerone Martin
Q: When did King first feel called to ministry and how did his surroundings influence that sense of calling?
King's calling emerged during his teenage years, particularly during a transformative stint in Connecticut where he first preaches and experiences religious leadership away from the South, which solidified his sense of vocation.
