I recently listened to the Calm in the Messy Middle episode and really liked how relatable both Pennie and Michelle were. Michelle asked great questions and the conversation was natural and full of great ideas of parents with neurodivergent kids could try. I really liked the idea about meditating and starting small and telling yourself "I am choosing to be here". Super powerful!
I caught the episode on emotional disability and truly enjoyed that conversation because it speaks to the inability of a child to articulate their own disregulation and offers parents practical advice on how to better manage those situations. It’s rarely spoken about and so important in a world where Emotional IQ has become a key skill today!
Great conversations that bring the topic of complex kids into the light.
As someone deeply embedded in this topic as a mother and clinician, I found the podcasts about vitamins extremely helpful. Parents are always looking for treatment options and this was extremely insightful.
As a parent of two children — one highly gifted and one with sensory processing disorder — I stumbled upon this podcast at exactly the right time. My son’s sensory processing disorder shows up most prominently around food. We have preferred foods, carefully navigated mealtimes, and years of occupational therapy under our belt. The clinical tools I gained through OT were invaluable, but nothing quite prepared me for the emotional weight of feeling unsupported and misunderstood by the people close... more
I loved the conversation with Lisa Watson, the takeaways were succinct and powerful. Thinking about where that inner voice comes from that guided the way you view yourself and parent your kids is such an important part of healing and improving ourselves for our children.
Was podcast really truly fills my soul! Michelle is such a light and provides truth and honesty to parents with complex kids. The tips and the simple solutions provided in each episode are magical.
A great place to hear that you’re not alone in this parenting journey.
Great interview with Joanna Lilley about our kids transitioning into adulthood. So much depends on the specific needs of each individual but regardless your situation, thinking through and planning for this time in life is key to navigating this season. Moreover, parenting NOW with that older age in mind could really affect how you, your child, and your team collaborate when that time inevitably comes.
After listening, I deeply appreciate how the show normalizes complexity without minimizing it. The conversations reflect an understanding that families are often doing far more than anyone sees. I left a review because the podcast aligns strongly with my belief that support, not judgment, is what allows both parents and kids to stabilize and grow.
I absolutely loved your episode with Lisa Watson, she is certainly a kindred spirit, guiding parents back to their true self, helping them see that their kids don't need to be controlled, not their actual kids or their inner kids, that with validation and understanding, we can release shame and blame and invite ourselves into the grace that is true acceptance of self and others, beautiful!
I wish I’d had access to a podcast like this 20 years ago! The first episode I listened to was about “Miles’ Colorful Cape of Feelings”. It’s a children’s book, but I shared the concept with the family. For parents of kids who “stick out”, for whatever reason, this is a space where you’ll fit in.
Michelle brings so much clarity and compassion to the chaos of raising neurodivergent or complex kids. The episode was packed with actionable insights and heartfelt stories that make parents feel seen and equipped. If you're exhausted by overwhelm or Googling in the middle of the night, this podcast is like a calm friend who gets it and has your back. Highly recommend!
