  • Not enough focus

As a newcomer to this podcast I don’t have the stamina to last through all the side talk and banter. The most recent episode as of this review didn’t get to any content even after 17 minutes. I gave up and tried another one and it was more of the same. I’m sure you are great guys, and other reviews mention useful content, but I moved on to others. I would love to get to the content faster, and stick with it.

  • Content is lacking

Listened to a couple episodes. One spent 60% of the 41 minutes talking about nothing as well as Peyton’s book deal. I would not describe this as content rich.

Maybe other episodes are better. I don’t have the time to find out.

  • My updated review after 9 years

I have been listening since 2015 started with Hardcore Church planting. I had to update my review. Pete your still the Man. Your Podcast has been a shield in my Armor. Thank you keep it up. I do miss smack talk at the beginning. I like to be tickled before the slap. Change is hard maybe one day I’ll start liking the slap first. May God and his word keep us uncomfortable and moving towards him.

CPP #646 – Michael T. Cooper on the Rise of Early Christianity
Q: What was the most surprising archaeological finding for you in your research, and how did it affect your writing about the early church?
The realization that house churches could accommodate large crowds and that non-house spaces like theaters were used by Christians was paradigm-shifting, leading me to revise earlier estimates and emphasize adaptive ecclesiology.
CPP #646 – Michael T. Cooper on the Rise of Early Christianity
Q: Can you describe why archaeologic evidence from Laodicea and Ephesus is so pivotal to understanding early Christian history?
Archaeology reveals not just buildings but how communities lived and worshipped, showing that early Christians used diverse spaces and symbols, which broadens our concept of church beyond simple house gatherings.
CPP #598 – Emanuel Prinz on What Actually Starts Movements
Q: Why this book? What actually starts movements?
The discussion covers his research framework, the 21 catalytic qualities, and how catalysts combine traits and methods across contexts to start and sustain movements.
CPP #598 – Emanuel Prinz on What Actually Starts Movements
Q: But since Pete isn't here to kind of put the hook out and pull me back in, I have to ask it on behalf of Pete. How did you come to faith in Christ?
Emanuel shares a journey from a fundamentalist home with a challenging upbringing, through a cognitive and evidential conversion, to a decision to follow Jesus and live out New Testament discipleship.
CPP #602 – Nick Hall on Evangelism
Q: What's the role of digital spaces in modern evangelism?
Digital spaces are essential for reaching new generations; the goal is to empower young influencers who love Jesus to endure and influence others, while staying rooted in genuine relationship-building and local ministry.
