An unauthorized podcast series peeking behind the curtain at the vast machinery and briar patch politics of fighting terrorism and insurgency and everything in between. I'm a "COINtra" and not a "COINdinista", the latter are the vast army of apparatchiks and apologists who fire the engines of Irregular Warfare (IW) planet-wide. We're the skeptics and doubters of all things IW and special operation... more

  • Save your time.

Well, all that time I can’t get back to my life. Shame I wasted it on this drivel. Be aware, misogynistic show with racist undertones. Get a real job dude. This ain’t it.

  • Solid Podcast

I really enjoy Bill’s content and insight. It helps one to make sense of why, for example, the military has done things that do not make any sense.

  • Sophisticated Analysis - Riveting History

It has taken me several episodes to get into the style and format Mr. Buppert delivers on the subjects of warfare and if nothing else I leave with a larger vocabulary. However, once engaged with the cadence, I’m entranced by the facts and history brought to the table that short form news, my own haste, or deliberate obfuscation hides the real history of various aspects of war or war events (and all things tangential to war such as diplomacy or covert state affairs).

Frequently Asked Questions About This Podcast

What is This Podcast about and what kind of topics does it cover?

A hard-edged, opinionated take on irregular warfare, defense policy, and geopolitical strategy. Episodes frequently critique Western military thinking, highlight the risks of over-reliance on legacy platforms, and stress cognitive rigor in defense planning. The host blends history, personal experience, and provocative critique to argue for strategic resets—smaller overseas basing, redesigned homeland defense, and more distributed power in modern warfare.
