A lot interesting stuff about music and the brain. Please keep doing the great job! :)
Indre Viscontas’ enthusiasm about the critical need for expanding awareness about the essential role music plays in propelling human brain evolution is invaluable. There is nothing more critical for the sustainability of our human race at this point of our history than overcoming SENSORY DEBILITATION and related disbalance of cognitive function - the root cause of widespread false priorities and other blind spots of our human brain, that manifest into paralysis in all parts of reality, as a cons... more
I am a musician and a music teacher.
I also have a love for psychology, neuroscience and philosophy. This podcast is pushing ALL MY BUTTONS!
Thank you for this wonderful show!
I no longer listen to podcast on Apple but I love this one so much I came back here to write this review! It is that great!
It's good, generally speaking. But when it comes to music, I'm of two minds. Thank you.
into topics that we rarely examine. Thank you for a superb pod!
My new favorite podcast. Answers questions that have been in my mind for the longest time. If you LOVE music, and wonder about how it relates to the human mind and condition, this podcast is for you.
I highly recommend this podcast. Indre is a brilliant, and spectacularly curious interviewer. The show topics dovetail elegantly. The first episode considers the definition of music. The next episodes explore universals of music across time and culture. I'm hooked!
If you've had arguments with your friends on what constitutes musical artistry or whether 'having a good ear' for music can be taught or if its inate, this show is for you. Indre Viskontas brings all her curiousity and throughness to deconstructing music.
Things that were revelations to me were how professional percussionists keep rhythm, how music came about to be and how we perceive what is and isn't music. What a great show!
Both topics are interesting in their own right and this podcast brings them together beautifully and intelligently! Highly recommend.
Music is a fascinating subject, when put together with how the brain works it's mind blowing. Love this podcast.
Indre Viskontas from Inquiring Minds podcast in her own personal journey through the science and art of music. I really like the first episode. Like Radiolab, she weaves together a mix of commentary and expert interviews for a compelling narrative. I'm excited for the series!
The first episode has only begun to explore this fascinating subject, but it already feels like Indre Viskontas is the right person for the task. I'm a
lready looking forward to the next episode.
