Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Olympic Games of Battling Glioblastoma: An Interview with Dr. Stefaan Van Gool of IOZK
Q: Why Germany and its legislation for personalized cancer treatment?
The guest explains that Germany provides a regulatory environment that allows explorative, individualized treatments outside the conventional standard of care, enabling more flexible protocols and faster translation of molecular insights into patient-specific strategies.
The Olympic Games of Battling Glioblastoma: An Interview with Dr. Stefaan Van Gool of IOZK
Q: So will you tell me about what it is that you do and how it works?
Dr. Van Gool describes a dynamic, phase-based approach that starts with standard therapies and adds oncolytic viruses, immune-stimulating strategies, and vaccines to progressively engage and expand the patient's immune response against glioblastoma while aiming to preserve quality of life.
Hard Evidence for Hope: Jennifer's Story of Being a 14 year GBM Survivor as a Former Top Attorney and the Spiritual Wake Up Call that Saved her Life
Q: Is it really possible to survive glioblastoma for many years, and what mindset helps most?
Survivors can thrive by combining traditional medical care with proactive lifestyle choices—sleep, nutrition, exercise, meditation, and a strong spiritual or purpose-driven framework—along with hope and community support.
Breaking News with Dr. Saskia Biskup
Q: Would the vaccine start after standard of care like surgery, radiation, and temozolomide, or could it begin earlier or later in the treatment window?
Immune approaches make the most sense as early as possible in the disease course because the immune system is less exhausted and the tumor is more vulnerable; sequencing and surgical timing are coordinated to minimize delays while maintaining standard care.
Breaking News with Dr. Saskia Biskup
Q: One common question is about combining one of the off‑the‑shelf vaccines with the CeGaT vaccine. Do you recommend such combinations?
I cannot recommend treatment as a geneticist; the decision must be led by the head oncologist, but our data suggest using the vaccine within a coordinated care plan and considering possible trial options rather than standalone use outside a trial.
