mid, too many rants, too meandering
After finishing American Psycho, I searched for a podcast that would do a deeper dive into the themes and interpretations of the book. This was not it.
I find it totally bizarre that one of the hosts had recently read the book and both hosts repeatedly get important facts wrong.
Seems like zero research or thoughtfulness went into the episode. Sounds like two buddies bantering over beers. And I don't even trust their opinion because they don't know Lewis marries Courtney.
I found nothing valu... more
Love the online-ish humor & that they even read manifestos. Analysis can be very insightful and wide-ranging. Covers all dif politics and whackos and classics. Well-researched on backgrounds. Good companion to lit Twitter.
From all accounts from trysted sources, this is as modern a podcast as the current housing crisis in Australia. It’s as if cult classics like Office Space and The Craft birthed these storytellers which ironically almost have nothing to do with books or literature. Take my word for it, I haven’t even listened to it, you’ll be pleased with what you hear. I plan to listen to it on my upcoming holiday
You guys are awesome! Hard to find podcasts that are both “dark” and brainy. This one’s among the few. In the event that this review is seen, please consider doing an episode on THE ANATOMY OF MELANCHOLY. It’s primordial “woo” and totally insane.

A sharp-turning, book-centered conversation that blends literary analysis with provocative fringe ideas. Episodes frequently center on novels, literary theory, and controversial or esoteric works, with hosts unpacking themes, historical contexts, and the cultural impact of the texts. The tone is irreverent, deeply analytical, and unafraid to pair highbrow criticism with satire or boundary-pushing camp. Noteworthy is the show's openness to niche authors, experimental formats, and a willingness to engage controversial subjects through a critical lens, making it a compelling pick for listeners who enjoy rigorous critique wrapped in subculture wit.
