  • Read the Book

After finishing American Psycho, I searched for a podcast that would do a deeper dive into the themes and interpretations of the book. This was not it.

I find it totally bizarre that one of the hosts had recently read the book and both hosts repeatedly get important facts wrong.

Seems like zero research or thoughtfulness went into the episode. Sounds like two buddies bantering over beers. And I don't even trust their opinion because they don't know Lewis marries Courtney.

Love the online-ish humor & that they even read manifestos. Analysis can be very insightful and wide-ranging. Covers all dif politics and whackos and classics. Well-researched on backgrounds. Good companion to lit Twitter.

  • Haven’t listened to it but I plan to

From all accounts from trysted sources, this is as modern a podcast as the current housing crisis in Australia. It’s as if cult classics like Office Space and The Craft birthed these storytellers which ironically almost have nothing to do with books or literature. Take my word for it, I haven’t even listened to it, you’ll be pleased with what you hear. I plan to listen to it on my upcoming holiday

  • Hilarious…wicked…utterly lovable!

You guys are awesome! Hard to find podcasts that are both “dark” and brainy. This one’s among the few. In the event that this review is seen, please consider doing an episode on THE ANATOMY OF MELANCHOLY. It’s primordial “woo” and totally insane.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

£, flesh and Femoid w/ Aaron Barry
Q: How do you write the Internet? Should you write the Internet?
The Internet is so all-consuming that any novel written in the West is influenced by it, and trying to write the Internet directly often results in boring pastiches.
£, flesh and Femoid w/ Aaron Barry
Q: How would you describe your two books, Femoid and Pound Flesh?
I would say Femoid is a prototypical version of Pound Flesh, where I was shifting from writing poetry to prose and experimenting with different styles.
Like You Have a Choice w/ Ivan Niccolai, aka Notes from the Periphery
Q: How does your background influence your writing?
It creates a fragmentary understanding of identity that is informed by a peripatetic upbringing across multiple cultures.
Like You Have a Choice w/ Ivan Niccolai, aka Notes from the Periphery
Q: What would you say 'Like You Have a Choice' is about?
It explores themes of identity, the absurdities of contemporary life, and reflections on the immigrant experience.
Sleep Capricorn w/ Jack Norman
Q: How do you feel Sleep Capricorn fits into this short story tradition?
I would be the pretentious entry into that tradition, aspiring to high literature.
