  • The best podcast

This podcast is incredible. A really high level of discussion and engagement with ideas that really matter to the world, at this point in time. This is highly useful in pushing forward my own thinking,

both in relation to my academic and creative life. Thanks all involved xxx

  • Mediocre claptrap

Looks like esotericism is the new grift these days. This show is mostly nobody pseudo-academics giving their uninformed rambles disguised as some form of “edgy” wisdom. There are better podcasts with more real depth and rigour out there. I have this many attempts - could not finish even one episode. My ears are allergic to mediocrity, no thank you!

  • Good stuff, but please…

…let the guests speak for themselves. Sometimes the presenters veer towards showboating. And yes, sometimes references or explanations/contexts for some of the more obscure references would be helpful.

  • Brilliant

Being honest, quite a bit of the content goes above my head as someone only just venturing into philosophy etc but it doesnt stop me from listening. I’m a depth psychology and so have particularly enjoyed the episodes about James hillman.

  • a man, bloviating. JFC

literally has woman expert on, asks her an overly detailed (non-conversational) question, then doesn’t let her answer. talks on and on and on in theory dude speak AT her for 10 mins. the person who literally wrote the book on it sits in silence. the topics are so interesting! i’d saved so many to my queue, and was looking forward to it, and this man is well read, he should know better! but no, he does not — so, unfollow, remove all from queue until this man learns to talk WITH people, women, esp... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Unfolding the Deleuze Seminars: Experimental Pedagogy, Philosophy, and Politics Inside Deleuze's Classroom (with Charles J. Stivale)
Q: What did a typical Deleuze seminar room look like in Vincennes after May 1968?
It was an experimental, close-knit space with cramped rooms designed for exchange rather than traditional lecturing, housing a community that valued student participation and a laboratory vibe.
The Obsolescence of the Human: AI, Nuclear Weapons, and the Philosophy of Günther Anders
Q: What is the world that Anders envisions? Does he have a positive program or is there an alternative given the pervasiveness of technology?
The guests discuss Anders's ambivalence toward technology: while not a blanket rejection, he emphasizes living with a critical awareness of how media and tools reorganize human life, asking who benefits and whether the world remains livable.
The Obsolescence of the Human: AI, Nuclear Weapons, and the Philosophy of Günther Anders
Q: So Chris, welcome to the podcast. And could you tell us a little bit about you and your work?
Chris Müller introduces his background as a translator and scholar, noting his work translating Anders and linking his life and philosophy to the themes of technology and emotion.
Hyperreality Is Dead: Baudrillard, the Age of Trump, and 'The Gulf War Did Not Take Place' Revisited
Q: What were your initial thoughts? Was this the first time that you worked with this text, and what stood out to you?
This text has kind of been in the mythology of post-structuralism in my brain, but this is the first time I've actually sat down and read the text itself.
Deleuze’s 'The Logic of Sense': Reversing Platonism and Affirming Philosophy with Jay Conway
Q: Why do you choose The Logic of Sense in particular as a piece you'd take to a deserted island?
It contains passages that deeply resonate with me, aiding my understanding of other Deleuze texts and offering powerful writing.
