I was thoroughly engaged by the story of Cumberland and his descendants! A digestible slice of a history that doesn’t always go down easy. I really hope they do more of these... can’t wait to hear what’s next from Bondfire Theatre.
This podcast series makes for a great storytelling moment - in a classic radio format (think Orson Welles' radio adaptation of "The War of the Worlds" - you may remember listening to this broadcast at least once in school - or if you are much younger - check YouTube if you're not familiar!).
Check out their first project, 'The Comet' - You will see that Producers Keisha 'TK' Dutes & Conscious Walker deliver consistent high quality audio production.

You can tell all of the hard work that everyone put into this. From the scripts, actors, to sound design, this is a piece of living history. Rarely do we get to experience Black stories as something other traumatic, but this work does just that. Looking forward to more!
This is one of a handful of podcasts I always listen to completely through. Really great writing. Super engaging — highly recommend y’all check it out!
Great slice of NYC history that everyone should listen to
There is not enough that I can say about this beautiful project. From the the writting to the production it is amazing. Two big take aways from this project are one: that we are able to write and tell our own stories in and entertaining way, and Two: We still have a lot to learn about our history in this country
I was lucky enough to see this production as it was presented live before an enthusiastic and large audience--in Weeksville!--in 2018. It was absolutely inspiring--the writing and casting were brilliant, informed by deep research and highly educational, presenting "slice of life in a day" kinds of scenes connecting to different periods in Weeksville's fascinating history. Anything produced by Keisha "TK" Dutes and Conscious Walker is going to be beautiful, visionary, and intellectually challen... more

I heard it when it was played live originally. Beautiful job! I’m proud. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️
Bringing a classically marvelous tale to life. I love the way it breathes and how the cast conveyed the energy.
Amazing cast and production. Really brings this story to life. I want more people to hear this and hope to hear more from this team soon!
Loved this story. Had never heard of it until now. Ironically similar to works produced decades later. Congrats.
