  • Audio

Good content; however, the host’s audio equipment is very poor and an unfortunate distraction. It seems I am not the only one making note of this.

  • Good show but need to QC sound prior to releasing.

I like the topic and guests on this show. However, Lauren’s audio gear leaves a lot to be desired. Her sound quality is about the worst of any podcast I’ve listened to.

  • Horrible audio‼️⁉️

Today Lauren had someone pressing a pillow on her face!!! Horrible audio… please do a gofundme to buy a mic

Why are your guests talking with a pillow on their mouth?? If your guests are dialing in then All you need to do is ask them to use a wired headphone. How hard is it? Why wouldn’t you just care enough to ask them to use one??

  • Microphone/sound

I would really like if the Hostess would get a better microphone, it is terrible sound with her voice pitch, it is easily fixed by a quality microphone or hire a sound producer/editor

  • Solid

As others have said, Lauren is middlin’ but Ben is excellent. He does all of the heavy lifting. He’s candid, owns his missed picks. I really enjoy his content. I wish they did the show more than once a week.

I’ve never had the trouble with audio that others have complained about. Perhaps I’m just an old and remember the days of genuinely poor audio.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Making the Most of Market Dislocations
Q: What deals are you particularly interested in, and what would such a big year in initial public offerings mean for public equity markets generally?
Stephen explained that the IPO surge could reflect a healthy transition and provide an expanded opportunity set for public markets, though historical patterns warn that large IPOs can precede later-cycle behavior; overall, the team is optimistic about a broader participation in equities aided by more robust capital markets activity.
A Deep Dive into Jobs
Q: When we're talking about these younger workers entering college and their first jobs, are there skills or occupations they should be gravitating toward as AI reshapes work?
The guest emphasizes reframing a job as a set of tasks, focusing on the most valuable tasks that AI will amplify, and cultivating skills in asking great questions, evaluating results, and adapting to new, higher-value tasks rather than just execution.
BlackRock's Rick Rieder on the Fed, Fixed Income, and More
Q: What lessons did you take from being considered for Fed chair about process and leadership that Kevin Morse might apply?
Respect for the rigorous selection process and the importance of a cohesive, communicative committee that clearly articulates strategic direction and the metrics the committee will watch, ensuring markets understand the plan without causing disruptive surprises.
BlackRock's Rick Rieder on the Fed, Fixed Income, and More
Q: You've written that the Fed's interest rate tools haven't been influential in ringing out sticky inflation. Why is that, and is there an alternative plan if lowering rates doesn't work?
The tools like the overnight funds rate are less effective for the parts of inflation that are sticky, such as services and shelter. An alternative plan involves signaling on the balance sheet and using the Fed's credibility to influence long-end yields, potentially coordinating with fiscal measures to manage debt dynamics.
BlackRock's Rick Rieder on the Fed, Fixed Income, and More
Q: What do you think we're going to learn from the post-meeting statement and Powell's press conference?
The main takeaway is that there may be little change in short-term policy, with the Fed likely on hold, but there will be important commentary about communication, the balance sheet, and the path of rate expectations that could tilt the trajectory of how investors price risk.
