  • Audio

Good content; however, the host’s audio equipment is very poor and an unfortunate distraction. It seems I am not the only one making note of this.

  • Good show but need to QC sound prior to releasing.

I like the topic and guests on this show. However, Lauren’s audio gear leaves a lot to be desired. Her sound quality is about the worst of any podcast I’ve listened to.

  • Horrible audio‼️⁉️

Today Lauren had someone pressing a pillow on her face!!! Horrible audio… please do a gofundme to buy a mic

Why are your guests talking with a pillow on their mouth?? If your guests are dialing in then All you need to do is ask them to use a wired headphone. How hard is it? Why wouldn’t you just care enough to ask them to use one??

  • Microphone/sound

I would really like if the Hostess would get a better microphone, it is terrible sound with her voice pitch, it is easily fixed by a quality microphone or hire a sound producer/editor

  • Solid

As others have said, Lauren is middlin’ but Ben is excellent. He does all of the heavy lifting. He’s candid, owns his missed picks. I really enjoy his content. I wish they did the show more than once a week.

I’ve never had the trouble with audio that others have complained about. Perhaps I’m just an old and remember the days of genuinely poor audio.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Talking Markets with Michael Cuggino
Q: What is the core architecture of the permanent portfolio and how do the asset classes interact?
The portfolio uses a mix of gold and silver, growth equities, a 'hard assets' sleeve with real assets like energy and real estate, non-US income (like Swiss-denominated income) for inflation protection, and a balance of investment-grade debt as the dollar assets, aiming for low correlation and gradual growth to beat inflation over time.
A "Free Lunch" with Money Manager Bill Smead
Q: Is there still value in Flutter, given its recent underperformance?
Flutter has been weak due to competition from prediction markets, but the team believes in its long-term potential and will monitor closely for signs of improvement in user adoption and monetization.
A "Free Lunch" with Money Manager Bill Smead
Q: What stands out about Lenar and other homebuilders in your portfolio?
Lenar's insider ownership and the strategic positioning with a few large players like Horton and DR Horton create a favorable setup, especially when the market views housing as out of favor.
A "Free Lunch" with Money Manager Bill Smead
Q: How do you talk to clients about staying the course in a technology-driven market?
Bill argues for focusing on circle of competence, avoiding envy of hot money, and making two great decisions on buys and sells, which helps clients remain disciplined even when tech stocks rally or falter.
Surfing the AI Spending Wave with Tom Essaye
Q: What is the outlook for AI-related earnings and major AI spenders like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Meta as they report?
Monitor CapEx and free cash flow, and assess whether AI investments are translating into tangible revenue or ROI, with particular attention to cloud growth, backlog conversion to revenue, and how AI tools monetize advertising or services; a positive signal would be ROI-driven expansion, while deteriorating cash flow could signal vulnerability.
