  • I’d love to have a beer with Jack

Barrons Streetwise is one of my favorite podcasts. I get insightful knowledge about key trends and current interests - offered up in an easy-to-listen-to manner. I would love to have a beer with Jack. Sure, he is smart but he doesn’t take himself too seriously and doesn’t profess to know everything on every subject. I relate to his sense of humor and enjoy the banter between Jack and his producer Alexis. Keep up the great work!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Small Caps, Chip Wars, and the K-Shaped Economy
Q: How does this analysis inform how people ought to invest right now?
We stress the need to react to economic data differently, focusing on specific consumer segments and their spending power rather than treating all consumers as one group.
Small Caps, Chip Wars, and the K-Shaped Economy
Q: Is there any way to tell as an economist, are we more geared or less geared or about the same to needing the stock market to stay this high so that the economy stays okay?
Yes, we think so. A lot of folks are checking their retirement portfolios, and if they feel uncertain about their investments, they could cut back on spending, which would have knock-on effects for consumption and the labor market.
Amazon’s Rufus Sales Tactics
Q: Can Target fix its issues and return to solid performance?
There is potential for a turnaround, but it requires addressing various challenges, including improving sales strategies and competing against lower-priced competitors.
BofA’s Favorite Non-AI Stocks. Plus, Nvidia’s Penny Dividend
Q: What do you make of dividends and their importance for investors?
Dividends are important because they can provide a steady income during turbulent market times, allowing reinvestment at lower prices.
Earnings Season Was Surprisingly Surprising
Q: What's your take on how long it really takes to recover from large drawdowns, and do you think most investors and advisors underestimate that timeline?
Crashes are particularly damaging for older investors because they mean having to sell shares at lower prices during downturns, impacting recovery. Younger investors can benefit from lower prices, making it less of a concern for them.
