  • Listening to this in China

I’m listening to this in the People’s Republic of China. Listening here to Americans talk about the necessity of removing “incorrect” speech and “hurtful” images is quite poignant. They should look more carefully at societies where this type of removal is the norm before embarking on that road.

  • Banished

I signed up to Bookmart and Banished liking the sense of balance and readiness to confront the contemporary phenomenon on woke culture and help make it visible and comprehensible to everyday people who see no formal leader, organizational structure or clear ideology they can question or wrestle with.

Well it seems I have been dropped from the mailing list, or the title has disappeared. I wrote to Anna complimenting her on several occasions on the intellectual balance in her tracts. Then, one ... more

  • Not impressed

This is a podcast that thinks it defends free speech and against cancel culture, but is really defending white hegemony. The host and guests are unable to imagine the worth of considering perspectives other than those created and maintained by white mainstream

America or recognizing the reality that colonialism, racism, misogyny have an impact on what is seen “universal”.

Take their Grease episode…their message is basically it’s just a slice of Americana, empowering kids to just be who they are... more

Supercharged since October 7
Q: What about the recent campus protests? Can we classify them as anti-Semitic?
Stern suggests that while some Jewish students may feel distressed by the protests' rhetoric, he wouldn't classify them as inherently anti-Semitic, advocating for education around free speech instead.
Supercharged since October 7
Q: Ken, you helped write the IRA definition. Why do you have a problem with it now?
Stern expresses concerns about the IRA definition's application and its politicization, particularly how it labels individuals within the Jewish community who protest Israeli policies as anti-Semites.
Trouble Ahead
Q: What is jawboning and why does it matter?
Jawboning is when government officials pressure universities to self-impose restrictions without formal legislation, creating an intimate form of censorship that is hard to challenge legally.
Trouble Ahead
Q: Jeremy, could you please remind us of the nature of the attacks against higher education during Trump 1.0?
During Trump's first administration, there was a national panic around critical race theory, largely driven by a backlash against the George Floyd protests and the popularity of the 1619 Project, leading to efforts to restrict discussions around race and identity in educational settings.
