St Kilda now lies deserted, but it was once home to a remarkable community. For hundreds of years, islanders endured extraordinary conditions and built a unique society. On 29 August 1930, the entire island boarded a ship and left their home, forever. The s... more

This is one of the most beautiful and well put together podcasts I have heard in years.
Captivating music, beautifully sung and incredibly well acted. The sound effects are stunning, it transports you to the island and whilst I listen I am in another place, wild and beautiful.
I love the story and don’t want it to finish, it is pure joy. (I suggest you listen to it with headphones to appreciate the beautiful sounds and music!)
Everyone involved in this should feel very proud!
What a unique and wonderful experience, listening to this podcast. We loved the storyline, the characters, the accents , the incredible music and the ethos. Highly recommended.
What a wonderful find. The most beautifully constructed story around the lives of the inhabitants of Hirta. A strong and hardy community that faced many challenges in an almost inhospitable climate and how the eventual outcome was unavoidable. Alongside this , a gentle love story threaded throughout. Not to forget the music which was performed and created so beautifully, always there to add atmosphere.
Such an emotional and inspiring listening experience. Can’t recommend highly enough!
Excellent script and voice acting. very nice story
I don’t know how I missed this eatlier. Frankly one of the best things I’ve listened to for a very long time. Get a hankie ready though!
Terrific story telling with beautifully integrated music and songs
Super
This podcast is great and I highly recommend it! The production is at a commercial level, the story is simple but engaging, the characters are strong, and the acting is top tier. I have only one negative, and it is the music. It's quite bad. The singing is good and there is one song that's a little catchy, but all the lyrics are hokey and forgettable. The grand musical production isn't enough to cover the amateur lyrics. But don't let that deter you. The songs are short and you can obviously fas... more
Wonderful story, I didn’t think it would be my cup of tea, as a musical but the story of Hirta is fascinating to me so I listened with open ears. Highly recommended
Found this reflection of the peoples history of Hirta fascinating and brilliantly crafted as a musical.
Not my usual cup of tea but the quality of production and authentic story line meant I couldn’t stop listening!
I loved the tranditional music and wonderful original songs. The accents were enchanting telling a magical tail of a different way of life. Many thanks!
