Two Brits podcast regularly about American culture, news, and places to visit.
Informative, funny, and sometimes thought-provoking
I’m a retired Brit, living in UK, but have a son in US married to an American. My husband worked in tech so spent much of his working life visiting US and as a family of us and 3 kids we have travelled much of America (probably more than most Americans).
Having finally finished the 760+ back catalogue of This American Life (my all time favourite podcasts), I asked my husband for recommendations. He mentioned that someone he used to play bridge with (Julian) had written a really good book and w... more
So unique and well done, learned a ton!
Really enjoyed episode 9, even it it was slightly at my expense! Loved the different topics. By the way one of my highlights from our trip to Cody was the fantastic little jewellery shop. Purchases were made. Finding the education piece really interesting, hearing Julian’s daughters describing the reality of an American education through their eyes. Looking forward to hearing what my next US trip will involve! Michael’s Beloved
Two old farts discuss all things American.
Just kidding, this is an excellent romp across the US , places, culture, political system and history. Great addition to any podcast playlist.
Cannon and Ball, Ant and Dec, Laurel and Hardy this could be the next great double act…….🤩
An enjoyable listen. Covers a wide range of topics, providing fresh light on previously accepted assumptions about US life and institutions. The divergence of laws and attitudes between states is an eye opener.
A good follow up to the detailed, but very readable book, ‘High, wide and handsome’, Wide ranging subject matter mixed in with detailed facts and real life experiences.
I’m very much enjoying travelling around different parts of the States through the eyes of 2 Brits. Podcast is mixed with lots of facts and views.
I have really enjoyed listening to this podcast. It is informative and super fun to listen to!
I really enjoy this podcast! I love your perspective and I learn so much. I also live in the south and have children of a similar age. I thought your segment on Prom was spot on. You also have me motivated to get out and travel. I haven’t been to Key West yet but really want to go. I look forward to the next one. Keep up the great work!
Let me say up front I am the Michael who co hosts this podcast. Julian and I have tried to produce an educational and fun podcast. Each week we review a place to visit, examine an item from the news and lastly something we think is worth sharing and on which we hold strong views.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this podcast and will certainly continue. I like how well balanced the information is - especially between the US and the UK mindset. Thanks Julian for being open and honest ( and we’ll informed) about out COVID status an US transportation. I can’t wait for the upcoming podcasts!
I am editing to add that I’d never realized that our rail system was built not to ‘move around the country’ such as in the UK but to link waterways. Thanks. 👍🏼
Very interesting Podcast. Two thumbs up!
Nice informed observation and commentary on aspects of life in America. Bang up to date on topical stuff too. Reminded me of ‘letter from America’ by Alistair Cooke.
