  • Kristen Ghodsee explores the writings of radical socialist Alexandra Kollontai. Commissar Kollontai promoted economic equality and emancipation of women decades before the U.S. sexual revolution. A.K.'s  writings are mixed with comments on current events, and sometimes K.G. is  joined by insightful guests like Prof. Scott Sehon and Ghodsee's own daughter. A.K. 47 is a welcome addition  to my list of  left podcasts.

  • Bummer

I actually love this podcast and Ghodsee’s work, but it’s incredibly disappointing to hear endorsement for genocidaires like Harris in the context of Kollontai’s anti-war work. I know professors are barely protected in their political work by tenure, but you could have said nothing instead of handwringing for half an episode just to promote voting for a warhawk.

I often listen to this great podcast featuring Alexandra Kollantai while at work and it’s given me a lot to think about! I haven’t finished it yet but it’s already given me new perspectives on what form love could take in a post-capitalist world and what socialist feminism can offer women that bourgeois feminism can’t. And all of this presented in an easy to understand and engaging format alongside comme... more
