Hello there! We are your hosts, Laura Marie and Jessica Marie and this is A Court of Fandoms and Exploration: A Podcast. I found this show in search of some fellow humans who had tackled the emotional rollercoaster that is Manacled (and you absolutely nailed the breakdown). I stayed for the wonderful surprise that was Jessica sobbing over the Clockwork Princess in the same way that I did back in 2014 (and the few times I've allowed myself to read it since). You gave me a small community to join when I've ridden the Shadowhunter train solo for so long. more
I will never listen to anything else, I am genuinely crying laughing every time these ladies bless me with their voices. Is is chaotic? Yes. Is it unhinged? Also yes. Is it the aiR iN mY LunGS? Also yes. I would sell my spleen for them, I would commit arson for them. ACOFAE is the love of my life.
I might be biased, but this podcast hits all the notes. Laura Marie is our guide and teacher of all fandoms and Jessica Marie our most loyal trusted of reactions. I love these girls with all my heart, and this podcast cannot be beat. And of course, no review could be complete without a shoutout to editor Sam!
But if you’re looking for a book podcast and are willing to listen to other opinions that might not totally align with what you initially thought, this could be a podcast for you. Aren’t we all just chasing that feeling of finding books and fandoms we loved so much in the first place?
I’m a naturally negative/cynical person and tbh my personality is a lot like the hosts. They’re entitled to their opinions. But practically speaking, it gets exhausting/not fun to listen to so many episodes that are primarily negative. The most recent ACOMAF reread episode might have sent me over the edge. Again, the opinions expressed are totally valid but it is unpleasant to listen to after a while.
