  • I used to listen to this podcast a lot. Then I realized any of my comments on Spotify I left that slightly disagreed with the hosts, were left on review and never published. They do not ask hard questions to their guests or hold them accountable for their views when harmful. They treat addiction like it's funny and just a part of culture and not like the illness it truly is. I can appreciate differing viewpoints but if you control the narrative in the comments, especially for a podcast about cul... more

  • Love!

Love this podcast! Would you consider an episode on the cult of birkin bags? I’m fascinated with how Hermes makes it so difficult to buy one; I heard recently that the staff googles potential clients’ addresses to determine if they’re fit to carry their bags! There’s also a whole world on TikTok of shops reselling them. Anyway, could be an interesting topic! Thanks for the all the work y’all do to bring us this fascinating podcast!

I’d been increasingly disappointed in the overall lack of research and/or nuanced discussion in the more recent SLAC episodes, and the posturing of SLAC hosts as “scholars” or “experts” when the depth of discussion is mostly surface level.

But the recent “Cult of ChatGPT” episode crossed a line. Not only did it completely miss t... more
