A Sacred Fellowship

asacredfellowship@gmail.com

Two friends and the occasional guest take listeners on a chapter-by-chapter exploration of the stories of J.R.R. Tolkien by treating them as sacred texts worthy of close study. One is a relative newcomer and one has been calling herself a hobbit since the age of 8. Each week, we will cover a chapter through a different motif and use sacred practices to dive deep into the lore of Middle Earth.

  • Worth Checking Out!

Excellent discussions! These folks not only know their Tolkien but their approach (analyzing each chapter from a single perspective using a variety of analytical tools (including Pardes and Chevruta) is very thought-provoking. Very good at discussing with listeners. Enjoy!

  • So much fun

I’ve read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings at least once a year since I was 7 and my Dad read them to me. But for the almost 29 years between then and now I’ve only read them on my own. This follows a similar layout of Harry Potter and the Sacred Text (I’m fairly sure that it started from their Facebook group) but we have built a community all on our own. With Lorienne just reading the book for the first time and Kathryn as a veteran it’s a good team to lead the podcast to get through the series... more
