Join me in an unusual but deeply fulfilling journey as I work my way through the Tao te Ching, that ancient Chinese book of wisdom and spirituality that didn't draw me away from a Christ-centered faith, but actually helped me hold onto it.

Chapter 80 presents Lao Tzus vision of the ideal society, the "Taoist utopia". Although it is not a "realistic" picture at first glance, writing it off would be a big mistake. The chapter not only praises minimalism and simple living, but also contai... more

This podcast found me. I have been dissatisfied with my current spiritual life and living the status quo. I have been looking for a way to draw me into a deeper relationship with the Divine. The content is deep but presented with extraordinary humility. As I listen I imagine myself sitting in a pub having a pint with Marshall. Thank you much for taking the time and energy to produce the podcast Marshall! It is changing me.
I happened upon Marshall Davis one day looking up some random things for the Tao. His translation was pivotal. I had read and reread The Tao Te Ching a few times prior, then I found your podcast and again God, (I like Tao) had lead me so graciously. The amount of detail and breakdown of the script by you helped nudge me into even further union with Tao. Thank you very much!
Very glad to have found this podcast. It’s very comforting for a Believer who came across the Tao Teh Ching and had his world shaken from the Christlike words of the text. This helped to ground me in my faith in Christ while allowing me to appreciate this beautiful piece of Chinese poetry. I am half-Chinese myself, and it’s wonderful to see this unity between both sides of my heritage.
I would recommend listening to this if you would like to bathe in the moment rather anchoring yourself in the past or drifting into the future.
I stumbled upon this gem-of-a-podcast via Audible in search for Tao-related audiobook. more
