Cole knocks it out of the park yet again. His unorthodox review style (watch as Derrickson is - delightfully - rocked by the profundity of Cole’s first question) grabs by the lapels, and thereafter just sit back and enjoy. Come for the storytelling; stay for the candor.

  • A journey through the many meanings of story.

Not many can achieve what this podcast consistently delivers - a meditative storm of the meaning and impact of narrative art. The exploration of this topic, and its impact on the individual and society, can often feel either distantly subterranean or incredibly shallow. Haddon and his incredibly well selected guests offer an accessible yet incredibly thought provoking perspective on “story” as a vehicle for our experience of art, entertainment, culture, politics, community and beyond.

  • For outsiders and insiders

I appreciate that this podcast takes screenwriting seriously but isn’t smug about it. This is a place to learn, to see yourself in the other artists interviewed & to feel comforted that we all struggle to walk the razors edge of art & commerce in this business. Cole’s singularly devoted to promoting diverse voices too which most industry pods are not

  • Fascinating

I love these thoughtful and often surprising interviews with truly fascinating people, and I especially enjoy the spot on commentary episodes about life as an artist. Cole is a gifted interviewer who asks questions from a place of genuine interest which makes the conversations feel fresh and alive and somehow like I’m sitting right there at the table with them. The episodes are intellectual in an accessible and grounded way, often truly funny, and they don’t shy away from the hardships of life- ... more
