Texas Republicans Are Walking Into a General Election Buzzsaw
Q: Explain to me what SREC stands for and what it is.
The SREC stands for State Republican Executive Committee. It is the governing body for the Republican Party of Texas and consists of the state chair, the state vice chair, and the committee members from each of the 31 state senate districts, totaling 64 voting members.
Bots, Ballots, and the #TxLEGE Grind: An Interview w/ Brad Johnson
Q: But yeah, tell me a little bit, how did you end up co-founding the Texas Bullpen?
Johnson describes his transition from journalism to entrepreneurship, crediting past experiences at The Texan and Old Texas Monthly as inspiration, and explains the goal of delivering longer-form content and newsletters alongside traditional reporting.
What Actually Matters at the Texas GOP Convention (2026)
Q: What is a minority report and what role does it play in the platform process?
A minority report is a formal alternative position to the majority platform report; if enough members sign, it must be presented to delegates, who can decide which stance to adopt, making the process more contestable and giving a channel for dissent.
Inside the Tabloid of Record for Texas Politics
Q: How did you build Current Revolt's audience, and what's been most effective for engagement?
Organic growth built through consistent, opinionated reporting and in-person or online engagement, focusing on issues mainstream outlets avoid; paid ads on platforms like X were largely ineffective for them, while direct interaction and topical stories drove readership.
Inside the Tabloid of Record for Texas Politics
Q: What do you see as the biggest stories or themes not being talked about by mainstream media?
There's a large pay-for-play ecosystem where MAGA influencers are paid to push policy or attack opponents, involving both domestic and foreign actors; this pay-to-promo model shapes what audiences see and should be examined more deeply.
