  • Great podcast

‘125 Miles South’ is both interesting, and an insightful too at times look into punk and hardcore music, and the people in and around it, in the USA and from around the world. And at times a good laugh as well. Well done guys.

  • Best Hardcore Punk Pod

Maybe it’s an ol head bias, maybe it’s old school 619, but this is my favorite genre pod. They cover old stuff that makes me reconsider my prejudices about certain niches in the early eras. They pull my coat on new favorites (shout out NightFever: Kopenhagen HC). Keep up the work lads. Thank you for the show and the effort.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

266. September 2025 (Jesse Standhard / Right Brigade)
Q: What happens with the LP and Rite Brigade?
We were going to do a record on Equal Vision but ended up recording the LP with Rev due to various circumstances.
266. September 2025 (Jesse Standhard / Right Brigade)
Q: How do you get into hardcore and what is the first band or record that you really connect with?
I can attribute exactly when I got into hardcore from a girl, her name was Alison Kelly. I was in seventh grade and I got a mixtape that had Bad Brains, Minor Threat, Murphy's Law, Youth of Today.
258. May 2025 (Steve Bruce / Cock Sparrer)
Q: Is that insane in hindsight to think about like that criticism when like you guys are literally just, you know, are you in your late teens at that time?
We were up and playing and we just thought it was a better opportunity to get more gigs and get more exposure, really.
258. May 2025 (Steve Bruce / Cock Sparrer)
Q: Can you talk a little bit about the early days of Cock Sparrer being a pub rock band, and then how you kind of transitioned into being part of the first wave of punk?
We were all together at school. We were a school band, and we started playing youth clubs...oh, definitely. We were cheering along with the rest of the youth at the time when it happened.
256. April 2025 (Vinnie Stigma / Agnostic Front)
Q: What is it like to write a riff as good as Friend or Foe?
Yes, I do. I wanted to use the full neck of the guitar. There are a lot of risks in there that are like fast and faster, you know?
