Parenting is hard…but does it have to be this hard? Wouldn’t it be better if your kids would stop pressing your buttons quite as often, and if there was a little more of you to go around (with maybe even some left over for yourself)? On the Your Parenting Mojo podcast, Jen Lumanlan M.S., M.Ed explores academic research on parenting and child development. But she doesn’t just tell you the results o... more

I so appreciate Jen’s worldview and her highlighting how the power dynamics at play in the extreme injustices in our world can be replicated—or addressed and healed—in our relationships with our children. We need more awareness of these issues as parents, and it’s not an easy journey but the health of our children and communities and world depend on it.
I was grateful to hear your episode on how toxic systems live inside our parenting. Honestly, having watched my own government participate in family separation for decades now and in more recent years, a genocide against a population with 50% children, I do not trust coaches/thought leaders etc that say they love children and families but advocate for their protection selectively. I trust you more because you have this perspective- not in spite of it.
I’ve just listened to episode 260: How the World’s Toxic Systems Live Inside Our Parenting. If you’re anything like me, you are wondering how people in power continue to do atrocious things and are still elected and supported. This is how it’s always been, right? The world being what it is, we have to do better. S... more
I’m really appreciating the shorter straight to the point episodes. I’m able to follow along and really get the aspects to reflect upon in my family!
Thank you, Jen, for this recent episode of connecting parenting to the oppressive systems of power in our society. As someone who used to be heavily involved in activism, but has stepped back with the arrival of multiple young children, this is a nice reminder that parenting is activism. It is bringing about change in the world.
