Thank you for the content you provide. The information you share has definitely helped shape my approach to structuring my retirement portfolio. After listening to all your podcasts one item that I need more information about are the guidelines for how/when to use the cash buffer during a market downturn. I hope you consider this topic for a future podcast. Would love to hear your insights. Thank you.

  • So good!

I started following Tyler on “the gram” and then started listening to the podcast and subscribing to the newsletter and I just find I pick up so many tidbits and have learned so much. I will probably never self manage my funds but the info I’m learning from this podcast is so valuable. I’ve learned a ton to help guide me and to know the things I need to learn more about and the questions I need to ask.

I feel like there is such good information for all ages and the information is provided i... more

  • Awesome!

Practical, down to earth financial content that keeps you coming back for more and laced with frequent humerus quips that increases the fun factor an palatability. I’m circling the airport of retirement so I have learned a lot and continue to dodge some bullets as I implemented changes based on his advice. I’m praying for you so don’t die until I get this plane landed. Thanks man! Please keep it coming.

Great information, Tyler! I’d be curious to get your thoughts now including the new Invest America accounts for kids! I know there’s a $5k contribution limit, but seems like they have flexibility. Also really enjoying the podcasts on social security and 2, 3 and 5 fund portfolio strategies! Thank you so much and can’t wait for your next episode!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How to Stop Buying a Life That Isn't Yours | Hanna Horvath, CFP®
Q: What practical steps can listeners take to shift away from endlessly optimizing money and time?
Start by clarifying what you actually want to do with your life, become aware of current money habits, and use the three-forces framework (internal, social, structural) to realign spending with fulfillment while building community.
How to Stop Buying a Life That Isn't Yours | Hanna Horvath, CFP®
Q: How does the concept of “enough” differ from typical retirement planning metrics?
Enough is reframed as a state of being aligned with one's values and life goals, not a fixed savings number; once you understand what you want from life, you can back-into the financial plan needed to support it.
How to Stop Buying a Life That Isn't Yours | Hanna Horvath, CFP®
Q: What motivated Hanna to shift away from traditional financial planning toward a behavioral approach?
She realized that information alone wasn't solving people's money struggles and that emotions and social forces heavily influence decisions, so she moved toward combining CFP expertise with insights from behavioral psychology to address the root causes.
The 3-Day Workweek Blueprint: How to Buy Back 104 Days a Year | Andy Hill
Q: What is identity diversification and how has it impacted your life?
It allows for multiple facets of identity, including a worker and a good partner/friend, rather than solely identifying as a corporate worker.
The 3-Day Workweek Blueprint: How to Buy Back 104 Days a Year | Andy Hill
Q: How do you navigate disagreements in financial decisions with your spouse?
I found that I was too numbers-focused; it was crucial to shift the conversation to what we were gaining rather than what we were losing.
