  • Great stuff!

I’m an American running the Race Across Scotland this year and since I can’t check out the trail before hand I was looking for some insight via podcasts. I really enjoyed the interview with Dave Moulding. These guys feel like a couple of friends you have known for years after the first five mins. Really great vibe.

  • Personable and interesting

Genuinely incredible podcast which is like a couple of lads having a chat down the pub about running with you which was an exactly what I was looking for.

Lost a star for sounding like it’s been recorded on a potato, sound quality is atrocious.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The "Accidental" Ultra Runner with Callum Clarke - Season 15 Eps 13
Q: Were you thinking you should hold back or were you just carried away once the race started?
I didn't start at the front and assumed there would be others ahead, but I quickly found myself moving faster than planned and had to recalibrate my pace as the race progressed.
The "Accidental" Ultra Runner with Callum Clarke - Season 15 Eps 13
Q: A newspaper headline for your Devil of the Highlands race – what would it be?
Old Habits Die Hard, because I went out as fast as I could, again, when I wasn't supposed to do that, and it became a lesson in pacing.
UTS Uncovered with Mel Sykes - Podiums, Storms and a Bit of a Twix - Season 15 Eps 12
Q: How did the terrain influence your pacing and choice of gear?
She emphasized the need for steady, conservative starts due to the tough climbs and technical descents, using poles for uphill sections and selecting Trailfly shoes for grip on boggy surfaces; reproofed waterproofs and light drop-bag gear also played a crucial role.
Rasselbock BYU with Frank McGaffney - Season 15 Eps 6
Q: What was your pre-race target for Rasselbock?
The target evolved with multiple checkpoints, initially aiming for a Highlander-like 16 miles, then considering 20, 24, and ultimately attempting to push toward 24 miles as a sustainable, emotionally manageable goal rather than a fixed finish line.
Martin Heggie goes Into the Tunnel (and back again!) - Season 15 Eps 4
Q: What was the biggest mental adjustment for you when you committed to the eight-month break from racing?
Martin explains that stepping away from a calendar of races initially felt overwhelming, but over time he found comfort in the process, reestablishing a focused purpose and using the break to recalibrate training and motivation.
