  • Stu Westfield - great episode

Really interesting content. I have come across Stu and his races having finished 3rd to Sam at the Peak District South and North in 2021. I also spent a day with him as part of my Spine preparation. Very knowledgeable guy and interesting to hear from a race directors viewpoint.

RUN FOREVER | Damian Hall
Q: How do the case studies contribute to the book's message?
The case studies bring the concepts to life by showing diverse paths—Olympians, GB vest holders, and frontrunners who continued competing into their 50s and beyond—demonstrating that aging does not automatically equal decline while offering relatable, actionable insights.
RUN FOREVER | Damian Hall
Q: What are the core pillars of training for aging athletes according to the book?
The core pillars include maintaining VO2 max with short, intense workouts, regular strength training to preserve muscle and bone health, deliberate recovery with adequate rest, and thoughtful cross-training to reduce joint impact while maintaining fitness.
RUN FOREVER | Damian Hall
Q: What inspired you to write Run Forever and focus on mature athletes?
Damian explains that the idea grew from a long-standing interest in how to sustain athletic performance into older age, drawing on his own experiences and gaps he saw in existing literature. The book combines training guidance with real-life case studies to offer practical strategies for longevity.
THE COMMUNITY TRAVERSE! | We Go Together!
Q: Have you got like previous experience of organizing major events?
Kitty explains that David came in to handle the event logistics and branding, as she and others lacked prior major-event experience, and emphasizes that the community's response has been the driving force.
Jon & Henriette Albon | Trans Grand Canaria Winners!
Q: How do you balance being teammates and competitors in races?
They explain maintaining individual race objectives while supporting each other strategically, describing split-second decisions during races where teamwork and personal goals intersect, and how this dynamic plays out in events like Trans Grand Canaria.
