  • “You’re giving an expression that says ‘mas o menos’?”

The above is an approximation of a quote from their interview with Deidre Godwin. I don’t remember the context, but I do remember it made me laugh….really hard.

As someone who spends a great deal of time trying to fall asleep, I listen to a lot of podcasts. This is probably my favorite. Anne and Damien are truly masterful interviewers. They take something that seems niche form the outside and make it accessible to all, through lots of preparation and respect for their guests. They ask both stu... more

  • An amazing podcast

I discovered this pod by accident & I LOVE IT!! I actually wish I could join this amazing pair on an episode and dish with them and one of their fantastic guests. When you look through all the episodes it’s truly an impressive list of actors. The hosts are terrific and the research is on point. Great questions and always a great time. Now if they could only get my fave actor of all time to come on the show… do you hear me Diana Scarwid??

  • Such smart interviews and enjoyable banter

Hosts Anne and Damian conduct interviews that are more like intimate conversations. They introduce us to familiar and well-respected actors (all female, hence the name of the podcast), and elicit stories as if they’re all old friends reminiscing. Their research and deep dives are exemplary. There’s no fluff, no pretension, no sponsors’ ads — just Anne, Damian, and their honored guest pulling us close and giving us the backstory we didn’t know we needed.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Chyler Leigh
Q: Can you talk about stepping into an original character in a beloved comic-book universe and how that freedom shaped Alex's coming-out arc?
Leigh shares that she valued the creative license and emphasized doing justice to the queer community, working with Greg Berlanti to ensure a respectful, impactful portrayal during season two.
Chyler Leigh
Q: What was your experience like joining a show that had already exploded in popularity, and how did you find your footing?
She describes feeling intimidated yet supported by a strong ensemble, notably Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson, and details how early conversations and in-room meetings helped shape her character's trajectory.
Chyler Leigh
Q: Was Grey's Anatomy the nighttime soap and emotional test you expected it to be, given the heavy scenes and tight schedules?
Leigh explains that while the emotional demands were intense, the groundedness came from authentic dialogue and building real relationships with her cast, which helped make the scenes feel truthful despite the medical jargon.
Charlayne Woodard
Q: Can you share a memory from the Pose experience that stands out as particularly meaningful or transformative?
What stands out is the intimate, almost family-like atmosphere Ryan Murphy cultivated on set, especially the way Judith Jamison greeted us at the rehearsal door and the sense that this project was breaking new ground for trans actors. The cast's openness, the vulnerability of the performers, and the way the production honored their stories made each day feel like a historic moment, and I felt both honored and inspired to contribute to that legacy.
Charlayne Woodard
Q: What was the most challenging part of originating Hester La Negrita in In the Blood, and how did Suzan-Lori Parks influence your approach?
The most challenging part was shaping a voice for a character that had to sound both authentic and distinct from my own. Suzan-Lori Parks pushed me to re-examine dialect and phrasing, insisting that Hester's speech be true to her life while staying true to the play's rhythm; when she challenged me to adjust the voice, I embraced the rewrite and used it as a chance to deepen the character rather than imitate myself. This process taught me the power of trusting the playwright's vision and the importance of constantly refining the speech until it feels inevitable for the character.
