為什麼我們邀請14歲的學生做專題？剛剛好的青春期，又有力量又迷惘，對世界有時不想理會又好奇。不同的生命發展階段我們會給孩子不同的任務，David老師的班級經營在八年級的重點是支持學生脫離保護、面對真實。不管是學科、戶外挑戰或是專題，都去服務這樣的大方向。而專題課程希望學生看到他自己的真實，脫離混亂找到秩序，意識到「我」在哪裡、我跟世界的關係在哪裡，以這樣的出發點開始進行不斷地碰撞；而那個碰撞的過程是專題裡最珍貴的部分。
