This is a great podcast - intelligent, well researched and interesting. Interviews with authors who write about film. It’s not a podcast rehashing tired Hollywood gossip, but discusses development of film and many key contributors. I have been reading many of these writers most of my life and listening to interviews with Molly Haskell, Jeanne Basinger, Joseph McBride etc talking about Preston Sturges, Billy Wilder, Coen Brothers and so much more is wonderful.
Film has long been my escape from the drudgery and depression of the real world; now, this great podcast has become another means of accessing film in all its wonder and complications, from experts who truly know their stuff. The long form interviews are fascinating, and Mr. Bleasdale is a sharp interlocutor. Hats off to him for filling this niche!
Writer and film critic John Bleasdale came up with that rarest of things: a unique movie podcast concept. more
A must-listen - tremendously entertaining and informative, with an impressive range of guests.
This is a superb example of everything great about podcasts. John Bleasdale has cornered an overlooked but vibrant market (books about films) which has allowed him to line up a guest list as diverse and wide-ranging as cinema itself. His deep knowledge of and love for the movies is infectious, and his warmth and good humour make his guests swiftly open up and get stuck into conversations they’d happily keep going for hours. Fascinating, brilliant stuff.
