  • Interesting discussions

Great choice of films - I like that they aren’t afraid to come down on commercial garbage movies - good stuff for people who are serious viewers

  • One of the oldest movie podcasts, and still one of the best

really appreciate the variety of subjects they cover. has exposed me to films that i sometimes didn’t know existed. always germaine and erudite guests. the recent discussion on the state of podcasting and the new documentary (Age of Audio) covering it was fascinating to listen to. i’m a big supporter of Mike White’s side projects as well. over 750 episodes in! a remarkable achievement.

  • The best movie podcast except...

Five stars all the way-except for the last couple of years. The best film study podcast of all time in my opinion. Unfortunately, politics and strangely distorted british accents have crept in all too often lately. Some new personalities with the habit of laughing, A LOT! No matter, it’s still an excellent show. Go back and listen to the back catalogue (pre-2016) for straight forward movie talk about story, acting, shot selection, etc. Too much political commentary now, but I always look forward... more

  • A Great Show

There are many movie podcasts that cover details of film production that entertain, few add a level of education and insights thanks to some pure gold interviews in the style of The Projection Booth. Runtime can be daunting but the vast amount of information that is offered can not be denied as nirvana for the movie fan/buff.

Q: Did you actually shoot that in Chicago?
Mostly. Actually, almost entirely, but at the last minute, Chicago was great because there's this river that there's no one's shot a boat chase on before.
Episode 772: V.I. Warshawski (1991)
Q: Rahne, how about yourself?
You know, I also saw it when it was first released and it was a profound bummer.
Episode 772: V.I. Warshawski (1991)
Q: Dahlia, when was the first time you saw VI. Warshawski and what did you think?
I saw it when it was first released and I was young and naive and I thought it was great.
Special Report: Sell Out (2025)
Q: How do you guys collaborate on that stuff?
We used to write together every line, but now we pitch ideas and reference past scripts, creating beat sheets and outlines before drafting.
Special Report: Sell Out (2025)
Q: Where did Sell Out come from? Where did the idea come from?
It came from several ideas, including being locked up during COVID and the political atmosphere in the country, reflecting how personal experiences and childhood friendships influenced the script.
