  • Amazing for filmmakers

I absolutely love this podcast. I’ve been working in film since 2020 and had gone from BG to directing award winning films and always wanting to learn perspectives of each crew member and this gives you an intimate, in depth peekaboo at every department of film and what it takes to make a film but it also shows how different each person’s journey has been showing that anyone with a true love and passion can make it. It’s been incredibly inspiring for me.

Thank you so much and please keep doing w... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

CHRISTINA ALEXANDRA VOROS - Director / Cinematographer
Q: What influenced your move from documentary into TV and feature directing?
Her path was driven by curiosity, a willingness to take on opportunities (directing on Ma and later Yellowstone), and learning through hands-on roles, which eventually led to directing blocks while still shooting, supported by a stable crew and mentorships.
CHRISTINA ALEXANDRA VOROS - Director / Cinematographer
Q: How did you get to where you are today?
She explains a circuitous journey from studying English and acting to film school, a scholarship at NYU, early documentary work in Europe and Africa, and a shift into narrative features and TV through collaborations with mentors and directors like Ava DuVernay and Taylor Sheridan.
DEAN GOODINE - Prop Master
Q: What happens with second units and how do you manage props across multiple units?
Second units require a dedicated prop master or assistant; preparation is key, with a clear plan for breakaway items and resetability, and on big productions I often delegate a main crew member to the second unit to maintain continuity while freeing me to focus on the primary shoot.
DEAN GOODINE - Prop Master
Q: How do you approach period authenticity and research for weapons and gear?
I start with thorough historical research, often reviewing museum resources and production-provided historical documents, then source or reproduce items with attention to a film's tone, using a blend of authentic pieces and carefully crafted replicas, while collaborating with the director and production designer to balance accuracy with storytelling needs.
DEAN GOODINE - Prop Master
Q: How would you describe the job of a property master?
A property master helps the actor become the character by supplying items handled in a scene, from guns and glasses to everyday props, and works from prep through on-set execution, coordinating with directors, production design, and wardrobe to ensure props fit the narrative and look safe and usable in any scenario.
