  • Don’t download

I downloaded one episode of this podcast and now cannot get it to delete from my library. I listen to podcasts all the time and I know how the app works. This one refuses to go away and I regret downloading it. Apple won’t respond to the issue. Maybe the podcast makers will help.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

'Critical Role' Creators Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham
Q: How do you balance running your own show with broader partnerships and in-house work, and what guides those collaboration decisions?
Our guiding star is variety and collaboration with creators who are telling their own stories. We seek partnerships that expand the universe, while staying true to Critical Role's independent roots and supporting others in the creator community.
'Critical Role' Creators Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham
Q: With upcoming Legend of Vox Machina season and Mighty Nein, what gifts or new formats were you excited to explore as performers?
We treated each episode as its own format, allowing for variety in structure—from action-heavy openings to music-driven episodes. This flexibility is a gift that lets us push characters into new situations and experiment with storytelling styles.
'Critical Role' Creators Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham
Q: How has the shift to animation and managing two shows changed how you talk about creativity and the industry with regard to platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch?
We've seen a widening of platforms and audiences, and we continually adapt by embracing independent creation and collaboration. The core lesson is to keep telling your own stories, which helps you stay agile as audiences migrate between platforms and formats.
'Critical Role' Creators Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham
Q: Did building the muscle of Vox Machina unlock anything when you began Mighty Nein, or did it go faster because you had the previous experience?
Yes, it went faster in many ways. The earlier work taught us what to expect from production pipelines, what kinds of storytelling risks work in animation, and how to better manage a larger scope across two shows. It became a learning accelerator for Mighty Nein.
'Critical Role' Creators Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham
Q: You had this very fun home game that Matthew Mercer was running. At what point did you start thinking this could reach audiences beyond the live stream, and how did that realization affect the project's direction?
It was a slow evolution. Initially, we doubted whether anyone would watch, but as the audience grew, it created an immediate feedback loop that made us rethink how we played and what stories we could tell. That realization pushed us to pursue adaptations into other media and to approach animation with a sense of responsibility and possibility.
