This has been a great podcast to accompany my reading of the Iliad. Looking forward to the Odyssey as well! I love Owen’s distaste for divine intervention and Isabella’s appreciation of the touch of magic.

Keep it up! Thank you both.

I have wanted to read the Iliad for years and you two have finally made it possible. You do such a great job of breaking down the books and explaining a million little things I have missed..it makes the book so much more enjoyable! I am glad you two have found each other—you are the perfect pair..I am looking forward to starting The Odyssey next-thanks!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Odysseus is in the Iliad too | Iliad Book 10
Q: Does Homer intend us to leave Book 10 questioning the Greeks?
The end of this book does have a sort of hollowness to it, indicating potential unease with the Greeks' actions.
Connecting the Odyssey to Sea of Monsters
Q: To what extent do you think Percy aligns with the sort of Odyssean sort of character archetype?
Percy is brave but not necessarily smart, often solving problems haphazardly, contrasting with Odysseus's more thoughtful approach.
