Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep. 87: (Re-Release) Lundy Bancroft Interview: Why Does He Do That?
Q: Could you start by describing the work you did at Emerge and what led you to write your book?
I joined Emerge, the first batterer intervention program, to understand the issue from a justice perspective and learned that engaging with the abused partner is crucial to grasp the full dynamics; most abusers are court-mmandated, and the contrast between the stories of the survivor and the abuser reveals the real pattern of abuse.
Ep. 82: Facing Pain Head-On: The Only Way Is Through
Q: Did you ever experience gaslighting from the health care system?
Yes, there were definitely times where I felt gaslighted, especially when medical professionals didn't understand the impact of my experiences.
Ep. 82: Facing Pain Head-On: The Only Way Is Through
Q: Now, what was the timeline that you ended up receiving your cancer diagnosis?
The final straw in our relationship, the domestic violence attack, happened in March of 2023, and I received my diagnosis in October of 2023, just six months later.
Ep. 80: When The Unknown Feels Scarier & The Courage To Leave What You Know | with Stephanie Strickland
Q: How did you finally inch closer to actually leaving him for the final time?
Stephanie explains that she finally left when she realized she was becoming suicidal and needed to live for her sons.
Ep. 80: When The Unknown Feels Scarier & The Courage To Leave What You Know | with Stephanie Strickland
Q: Did some of those things maybe overshadow the red flags?
Stephanie agrees that the passionate start of the relationship overshadowed the early red flags.
