  • Excellent, thought-provoking

This is a truly eye-opening and thought-provoking look at the lingering intergenerational trauma of the Jim Crow era, as experienced by the host who grew up in suburbia in the 80s. I was born at the end of the Jim Crow era, and this podcast really brought home to me how this terrible time in America is not something that happened in the distant past but rather in my own lifetime—it still has profound effects felt today.

  • The Most Comprehensive Analysis of African American Experience

I’m astounded by the depths that this man went to seek out of the roots of current African American culture & behavior. I was constantly writing down author’s names as I listened to academics opine of different aspects of black history. This podcast dates to be both vulnerable & uplifting at the same time. Bravo! My sincerest appreciation for this body of work. I sent it to so many people I know.

  • I’m related to this family!

I just randomly picked this podcast to listen too and when he said his family was from Butler County, Alabama, I knew! My family is from Butler County and I had been researching this family for a while. Lots of Pugh relatives in my DNA test. This podcast holds a more sentimental meaning after finding this information. Great job!
