When Geoff turned 40 he decided to take a year off drinking. This wasn’t very popular with his friend Matt, who likes drinking, and thinks Geoff will turn into a really boring friend.
This podcast is an exploration of sobriety, male drinking culture, lager, mid-life crisis and friendship.

How was your Christmas / New Year / Dry January / Lockdown 3 / Homeschooling?
It's been two months since Matt & I last had the time to record a podcast. Well actually that's not QUITE true... we did manage to met briefly between Christmas and New Ye... more
Shall we start with the caveats?
Matt and I recorded this episode at the end of Lockdown Part 2 - when the only way to meet was socially distanced at either end of a bench in the park. So it sounds a little different to usual.

I can't even begin to tell you how hungover Matt was during this episode.
It might just be the last time I see Matt given the latest lockdown announcements - and this is how I have to remember him!!!

Slightly different take on a sobriety podcast with some good discussions. Geoff sounds like a great bloke and his honesty and curiosity about his journey is really interesting to listen to.
I can’t tell if Matt is playing a role as a counterpoint to Geoff’s sobriety, and is saying certain things to highlight the toxic masculinity within British drinking culture; or whether he’s genuinely that unsupportive, boorish, and insensitive. Listening to Matt and Jeff feels like listening to a couple of mates banter. The contrasting personalities of the hosts makes for interesting conversations around drinking, not drinking and drinking culture in yeh UK. If you’re interested in learning more about alcohol free beers and the options around changing your drinking this podcast is for you.
I’ve been listening since the first episode and each time I gain more and more interesting and relevant insights. They say it’s about male drinking culture and it is, but as a woman I also find it of value. The guests are wonderful. I just finished Oct 15 and really enjoyed that guest. I’m American so I have no clue who he is, but he is so genuine. Highly recommend regardless if you are wet or dry.
The subject matter of this podcast will resonate will EVERYONE. Funny as it is thought provoking...glad I tuned in!
Stumbled on this by mistake. Glad I did. Very funny, very interesting. May be my current favourite podcast.
