  • I like it but…

I’ve listened to basically all episodes. I love the interviews with excellent experts. Holly and Jim’s bias seems to be against long term use of GLP1s. I use Zepbound and it 100% allows me maintain all of my healthy habits to maintain my 40 lb loss for over a year. I’ve never been able to maintain with such ease. GLP1 meds are MAINTENANCE meds. Also antidotes have nothing to do with anecdotes!!

  • Science and soul

Love the thoughtful questions Dr Holly and Dr Hill ask their guests. My favorite episodes are their solo ones where you get to hear their take on GLP1s, what it takes to maintain weight loss, and especially the mind state of successful weight loss.

I always learn something when I listen.

  • New book

Will your new book on getting off weight loss medication have a robust actual plan to follow for weight management? My doctor doesn’t know how to help do the weight management piece. Lost a good amount of weight but 1 year after it’s all back…despite a health exercise, including resistance training. Want to do the glp 1 again…but with an actual exit strategy.

  • Great episode with tips to avoid self sabotage.

I took little nuggets away from this episode-power of positivity, combining weight loss …AND. During the episode it became clear to me that in addition to weight loss, I want to be fit, lean, and strong. I want that extra energy. Feeling more motivated after listening! 😊💪🏼🦵

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The More You Know, The More You Can Eat with Carolyn O’Neil
Q: How do you address the confusion from conflicting nutrition advice that pops up every week?
Nutrition is a process; we should look at the total pattern rather than a single study, focus on executive summaries, and use tools like AI cautiously to translate science into practical guidance.
The More You Know, The More You Can Eat with Carolyn O’Neil
Q: What should I be eating that brings enjoyment from your point of view?
The approach is to combine knowledge with practical choices—enjoyment and flavor are not sacrificed for health; understand how different foods fit into a balanced pattern, and prioritize nutrient density and pleasure in meals.
The New Era of Weight Loss and Heart Health with Robert Eckel
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about the SELECT trial and how you think it's impacting the field now?
The trial involved 17,600 participants treated with high-dose semaglutide or placebo over four years, showing about a 20% reduction in major cardiovascular events despite weight loss not being the powered primary outcome; this signals a meaningful cardiovascular benefit beyond weight reduction.
The Science and Realities of Long-Term GLP-1 Use
Q: Why does weight loss slow down on GLP-1 medications and what is a plateau?
Weight loss slows as the body reaches a new energy balance; the drugs reduce intake and the body lowers energy expenditure, leading to a plateau that is normal and expected rather than a sign of failure.
The Hidden Influence of Community and Environment with Christina Economos
Q: How do you approach getting a community ready for intervention and ensuring sustainability?
Readiness, trust-building, stakeholder involvement, data harmonization, co-design and implementation, and ensuring results are shared with a plan for sustainability are essential to successful community interventions.
