  • A simple premise with non-simple people

Viktor's podcast is a pretty regular concept - he and his interviewee(s) sit down and chat. The thing that makes this podcast so entertiaing is the range of people he is interviewing. Drag performers, burlesque people, artists, goths, kinksters, clowns, makeup artists, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and more. There is honestly something for everyone who has ever been interested by the allure of the nightlife and cabaret scenes of a city.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S10 E280: Funking It Up with Nami Flare
Q: How did you approach preparing for major competitions like BHOF and What the Funk?
She describes a mix of deliberate practice, deep research into the era and artists she channels, and ritual preparation, including embodying the act with a rooted sense of personal identity and spirituality to stay grounded.
Music that Made WE: Obscura Fox (Side B feat. Linkin Park, Pentatonox, Daddy Yankee)
Q: Tell me about track number 7 and why it mattered.
The track sparked a personal memory of watching an all-acapella competition and witnessing a performance that inspired a groundbreaking solo moment, showing how vocal arrangement and stage presence can redefine a performer's identity on stage.
S10 E279: Hurly Burly w/ Catty Wompass
Q: What motivates your emphasis on collaboration in production and performance?
I perform best in collaboration; working with duets, producers, and a broader team reduces pressure on me personally and creates a space where audiences feel connected to a larger, communal vision, which is essential for sustainable shows like Body Body Ha Ha.
S10 E279: Hurly Burly w/ Catty Wompass
Q: You mentioned moving from Mississippi roots to San Francisco and beyond; how did those environments shape your artistry?
Growing up in conservative spaces, then finding a welcoming, experimental burlesque scene in San Francisco, allowed me to blend intellect with hedonistic performance, ultimately shaping my approach to inclusivity, body positivity, and collaborative creation across regional stages like Iowa and Chicago.
S10 E279: Hurly Burly w/ Catty Wompass
Q: Your name is a throwback to a chaos or hurly burly; where did it come from?
Catty Wompass originated after a host suggested Catty Compson, and the moment of hearing that playful twist sparked a realization that I could reclaim a provocative, powerful label rather than hide behind a conventional burlesque name.
