  • Motivating

I love this podcast! I learned about it when I watched the 30 day walking challenge YouTube video. I’ve never been consistent with working out, but this past few months I’ve been striving to increase my steps. I had an average of 8k recently. But now I’m an average of 10k. Thank you for your encouragement. It means a lot. Maryam

  • Great Motivation to Keep Going

I watched the June 30-day challenge video on YouTube. I have a corgi and walk her a mile or so every afternoon, but since she likes to sniff around and since her legs are so short, it usually takes at least 30 minutes to walk a mile. I started your challenge as “me time.” The podcast is a great motivation. It provides a community of people with the same goal. I’m 65 and want to keep active now that I’m retired.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

An Important Conversation About Shoes
Q: What shoes do you recommend?
There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer; it's best to consult a professional to tailor footwear to your feet and needs, and consider a wider toe box and gradual transition toward fewer cushions as you build strength.
Pool Walking
Q: What do you think of walking in a pool?
Walking in a pool offers low joint impact due to buoyancy, with added resistance that boosts calories burned and improves balance, making it a viable option for staying active with less joint stress.
Does Walking Pace Matter?
Q: During the 10-minute walk, you haven't mentioned pace. How should pace factor into the benefits of a daily walk?
Pace isn't the only factor; moving and getting the heart rate up can provide benefits, but slower walking still offers emotional and meditative advantages, and enjoyment is key to sustaining the habit long-term.
You're Being Watched
Q: Does this motivate you to take the walk, knowing that you being out there is probably inspiring others?
Yes, the thought that others see my consistency and perseverance encourages me to continue walking even in adverse conditions such as cold, heat, or rain.
An Update On My Year Of Getting Stronger
Q: Which is better, having a plan with small set goals to get started, or just getting started?
It's both, and the blueprint allows for a combination of small set goals and figuring things out as you go.
