  • Do better

Good info but Megan’s speaking is so distracting by her constant sucking in of air and clearing her throat. You’d think a podcaster would listen to herself speak and realize how irritating it is.

  • Shills selling stuff

I get that one needs to monetize, but after enduring a seemingly endless commercial for their tea and bone broth, I see the cynical sales pitch behind these guys. Hard unfollow.

  • Great Info, Bad audio

Overall, this is a great podcast when it comes to fasting. I do find the topics and information to be valuable. However, with so many episodes in, I am shocked that the host have not invested in better podcast microphones.

Something like the Shure MV7 or Podmic would do wonders for the show.

  • Dropped a star for God reference

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years and was surprised when the guest cited his opinion based on what he thinks God wants. Seriously? So much for the scientific method. Unfollowing

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Understanding Hunger: What to Do When You Feel Hungry
Q: Could you get down to a few more nuts and bolts about what to do with those various types of hunger in the real world?
Dr. Fung outlines practical distinctions between hunger types and emphasizes tailoring strategies to each type, such as using satiating protein and fiber to manage homeostatic hunger, slowing down eating to counter hedonic hunger, and leveraging social support or talk therapy to address conditioned hunger. He also highlights that recognizing hormonal signals and the processing of food are central to choosing effective interventions.
Mindset Mastery: The Missing Piece in Long-Term Weight Loss
Q: Penny asks why old patterns of self-sabotage recur and how to address them.
The speakers explain it's about identifying underlying emotional needs (loneliness, fatigue, stress) and reframing the inner dialogue, rather than fighting the urge directly; viewing the inner child as needing safety and comfort can help break the cycle.
Mindset Mastery: The Missing Piece in Long-Term Weight Loss
Q: Anna asks about overcoming fear of missing out on social foods without derailing progress.
A strategy discussed is doing a 30-day challenge (e.g., carnivore or elimination diet) to understand what you can and cannot tolerate, and to build a clearer boundary around foods that don't serve you while still enjoying social moments.
Mindset Mastery: The Missing Piece in Long-Term Weight Loss
Q: Lisa asks how to address negative self-talk and still stay motivated in maintenance.
Heather and Terri suggest reframing the inner critic by listening for the underlying needs (safety, comfort) and gently meeting them through mindfulness and compassionate self-talk, rather than trying to suppress the voice.
How to Start Fasting Without Overwhelm
Q: What should I do about fasting while traveling?
On sightseeing trips, continue fasting with 16-18 hours if possible; on beach or resort trips, start with a later breakfast to minimize snack temptations and then adjust your dinners to maintain fasting goals.
